JIS G3101 SS400 grade is one of the most common carbon structural steel material. The melting point of SS400 steel is 1430 degrees Celsius. The DIN equivalent for JIS SS400 is 17100 St 44-2; the ASTM equivalents are ASTM A36 and ASTM A283 Grade D; and the EN equivalents are EN S275 and BS 43A. Material Grades states that SS400 steel has a more reliable tensile strength than SS330 steel. The thickness of SS400 steel is between 6 and 20 millimeters.
